My column which will appear or has appeared (depends on when you read this) in The Sun’s Thursday editions and on-line Wednesday night was the product of one of those late nights watching a baseball game in my office. My family and I were lucky enough to renew some friendships and create some new ones last week. We went to the Panhandle where I spoke to the Northwest Florida Gator Club and the Emerald Coast Gator Club. It was a great way to spend the last few days before the craziness envelops us all.

The Summer of Stupid just won’t end.
The latest controversy that really isn’t controversial involves Urban Meyer’s comments last week when he was asked about two Miami players being involved in a fight in the locker room. Meyer talked about building chemistry and the issues he faced when he came to UF.

Am I the only one who wonders what the heck Florida coaches are doing with Tim Tebow?
First there was all this talk about Joe Haden playing quarterback. Then, at Media Day, Urban Meyer talked about how Johnny Brantley will play significant snaps this season.
Uh, did I miss something or did Tebow lose something over the summer? We are talking about a guy who may be the best to ever play the game. Sitting Tebow makes no sense.

This statistic is a good indicator to show what Florida football has accomplished over the last 20 years.
Because when the Associated Press poll comes out later this summer, we all expect the Gators to be ranked No. 1. The coaches overwhelmingly gave Urban Meyer’s team the nod on Friday.
So I looked it up and here are the all-time standings in the SEC for weeks being ranked No. 1 in the AP poll.
