by Pat Dooley
I had Urban Meyer on my radio show Wednesday and he had some interesting things to say. Meyer just returned from his gig on ESPN in Glendale, Ariz., and confirmed that he’s planning to work for the network.
“That’s the direction we’re going,” he said. “I’m not sure exactly what I’ll be doing, but Shelley and I had a long meeting with them.”
Some other tidbits:
* Meyer said he doesn’t like the term “retired” to describe him, that he’d rather people say he has stepped away from coaching. Which makes it sound like he may coach again.
* He said he has an office at UF but will only go to it if he’s asked. He wants to do everything he can to help new coach Will Muschamp, but he will not do any “second-guessing.”
* He hopes to teach a class at Florida in the spring.
* He will be headed to Oregon in a couple of weeks to talk football with Chip Kelly, the Ducks’ head coach.
Look for Meyer to make occasional appearances on The Pat Dooley Show on 104.9 FM. On Tuesday, we bring The Sun’s Ed Aschoff into the studio to answer your recruiting questions from 5 p.m. to 5:30.
