If you were wondering why Tim Tebow was wearing “Proverbs 3: 5-6″ on his eye black for Florida’s opener, Nancy Searles has provided the answer.

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow greets players after the Gators' 62-3 win over Charleston Southern Saturday while sporting the bible verse Proverbs 3:5, which according to the New King James Version says "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding." The local realtor had her granddaughter Makayla, who lives in West Palm Beach, at the game and at the Gator Walk. She was carrying a sign that had “Proverbs 3: 5-6″ on it.

Writes Searles in an e-mail: “Never in our wildest dreams did we expect Tim Tebow to stop in the middle of the Gator Walk to come over to my granddaughter who was holding the verse PROVERB 3: 5-6 on a sign. He stooped over and said hello to her, my other two granddaughters Kelsey and Lindsay and her two friends Kendall and Hannah. While stooped over he told Makayla that Proverbs 3: 5-6 was a great verse and he would put that on his cheek for the game and HE DID.”

So now you know. And if you didn’t know, this is what it says:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
